Columbia Bank’s NeighborHub is a concept branch designed for community events, education, flexible business workspaces and personal interaction. It’s an idea that builds community around the bank – truly a modern story from which all businesses can learn.
The NeighborHub model de-emphasizes the traditional teller line and instead puts community and technology at the forefront. The branch accommodates a teller transaction just as easily as it offers a place to meet friends for coffee. It provides customers a platform for digital discovery about the bank’s products and services in a friendly, relaxed and relatable way. Columbia Bank invites customers to browse, something not typically done in a financial service setting, by using the digital touch-screens and adding services to a cart.
In addition, ABA Bank Marketing featured Columbia Bank in this article in late 2019. Columbia Bank EVP, Chief Marketing & Experience Officer David Moore Devine shares the strategy behind the space. K&D’s Director, Content Strategy Sharon Klocek-Ibbotson discusses how digital displays help financial institutions remain relevant given the changing role of the branch.
The NeighborHub concept is being replicated across Columbia Bank’s three-state network in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. In late 2020, the bank’s Idaho market launched a NeighborHub in downtown Boise. Columbia Bank has proven that high tech can – and perhaps should – also be high touch.
Many thanks to the ABA and ABA Bank Marketing for sharing our passion – using digital signage strategically. We’re proud to partner with Columbia Bank who uses digital signage to elevate the role of the branch.
